From surf-pounded Atlantic bays to secret south-coast coves, these are the beaches we return to again and again.
Kynance Cove
Serpentine stacks, white sand and water that glows turquoise on a sunny day. Arrive at low tide to explore the caves and islands, and come early in summer — the car park fills quickly.
Porthcurno
Shell-white sand in a granite amphitheatre, with the Minack Theatre perched above. The water is cold but astonishingly clear.
Watergate Bay
At low tide the beach stretches for two miles. It's dog friendly year-round and ideal for long walks, surf lessons and sunset suppers.
Crantock
A vast dune-backed beach beside the Gannel estuary, a short ferry hop from Newquay. Dogs are welcome all year.
Porthminster, St Ives
Sheltered, sandy and perfect for families, with a celebrated beach café and the town just a short stroll away.
